Happy 100th Birthday Sister George Marie!

Ursuline Sister George Marie Long celebrated her 100th birthday on April 8 surrounded by friends, former students and students from Sacred Heart Academy.

She was presented with cards sent by many well-wishers, a proclamation from Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson for "Sister George Marie Long Day," recognition from the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville and recognition from the Pope. Thanks to Plehn's Bakery for donation of a cake that was presented by four Sacred Heart Academy students sharing the same birthday.

An Ursuline Sister for 78 years, Sister George Marie was an educator for 54 years. She served as dean of Ursuline College for six years and is a former principal of Sacred Heart Model School and Sacred Heart Academy.
