New Marian Home driveway a blessing for residents

It's not every day that you get to bless a new road. But for residents at Marian Home, a new entranceway truly is a blessing, and much deserving of the honor. May 16 marked the completion of a new entrance that will allow vehicles to pull up to the door for pick-up and eliminate the need for elderly and infirm residents to venture out into the elements.

Sisters watched as students from Sacred Heart Model School brought up the tail end of a parade celebrating the opening of the new driveway.

Funds for the entrance were provided by an anonymous donor and come at a time when the home is holding a 25th anniversary campaign to raise funds for needed equipment and renovations. Thus far, donors have given items that include a new electronic organ for the chapel, several electric low beds and money to renovate the second and third floor hallways.

To celebrate the new entranceway, Ursuline Sisters and residents held a special blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony complete with a parade.

Cheering them on were children from the Ursuline Montessori School blowing a sea of bubbles and fourth graders from Sacred Heart Model School providing parade music with recorders.
