Marian Home Card Party pulls in record attendance and record funds

Card party attendees looked over the many items that were raffled on the specials table.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2003) - Families took a break from holiday leftovers and shopping Saturday afternoon to attend the Marian Home Card Party, creating an attendance record of more than 200 guests and raising more than $5,000 for Marian Home, the licensed nursing facility and ministry of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville.

"We could not be more pleased with the Card Party's success," said Sister Jean Anne Zappa, OSU, president of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville. "The atmosphere of fun and friendship really made for a spirited event. We are so appreciative of the public's support of our ministry and to the businesses that donated prizes."

The Marian Home Card Party, an annual event for more than 20 years, took place in the Sacred Heart Academy cafeteria on the Ursuline Campus off of Lexington Road. Patrons played games, enjoyed concessions and won prizes, with proceeds benefiting Marian Home, which is home to many retired and infirm Ursuline Sisters. Area businesses donated the concessions and prizes, with volunteers organizing and working at the event.

"I cannot say enough about the wonderful volunteers who helped put this event together," said Jill Parson, activities coordinator at Marian Home. "We are truly blessed to have them as part of our Ursuline family."

The 2004 Marian Home Card party will be held Nov. 27 next year.
