Ursuline Campus Art Fair blends
fine art, music, food and fun
September heralds autumn's arrival and, with it, the eagerly awaited Ursuline Campus Art Fair on September 15 and 16.
The art fair began in 1987 as a “friend raiser” for the Ursuline Sisters and the five schools they sponsor. Luckily, for both the Ursuline Sisters and the public, the fair has grown in attendance and stature each year.
Now in its 21st year, the fair features fine arts and crafts from 150 juried artists across the country. The art booths blend with an eclectic mix of music, activities for all ages and a smorgasbord of food, beverages and desserts. Both serious art lovers and casual browsers will enjoy the variety of one-of-a-kind items available for purchase. From watercolors and oil paintings to handmade jewelry, sculpture, pottery and clothing, the art fair has something for every budget and every taste.
Throughout the weekend a children's area will feature hands-on activities for the younger set. Local scout troops and school groups will offer a variety of do-it-yourself crafts, balloons, and face painting for a minimal fee.
Visitors of all ages should come hungry. A host of art fair food will tempt the appetite. Take a break from shopping to enjoy the ongoing live entertainment.
Friday night, September 14, welcomes “Interlude,” a major fundraising event for all five campus schools, Sacred Heart Academy , Sacred Heart Model School , Ursuline Montessori School , Ursuline Child Development Center and the Ursuline School for the Performing Arts. The event includes a live and silent auction, cocktails, entertainment and sumptuous catered dinner. The highlight of this stellar evening is a grand prize raffle drawing for $25,000. Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win.
The Ursuline Campus is located at 3105 Lexington Road . Art Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. To ease parking congestion on campus and neighborhood streets, free parking and shuttle service will be provided during fair hours from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2825 Lexington Road , less than one-half mile west of the campus. Please no pets, bicycles, skateboards or alcohol. |
