Alumna of the Year:
This award of highest honor is traditionally given to one alumna who has contributed significantly to her community and enriched the lives of those around her. As a graduate of Sacred Heart, her outstanding accomplishments bring distinction to the school and the strong foundation it fosters in young women.

Erin Brady Worsham, SHA ‘76 – is a 1980 graduate of Western Kentucky University, and a role model and champion to all who face physical adversity. Although diagnosed in 1994 with Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gherig’s Disease), Worsham has continued to savor life as a mother, an accomplished artist, patient activist, editorial writer, and spokesperson. Even though confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the neck down, and dependent upon a ventilator to breathe, Worsham has striven to enjoy life and make meaningful contributions to the world around her. Through a communication device attached to her eyebrow, Worsham has written award-winning editorials for the Tennessean newspaper, created artwork selected for permanent display in international galleries, and written speeches delivered to the FDA, Tennessee Bar Association, and assemblies of students. In 1999, Worsham was chosen as Person of the Year by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and was featured with Jerry Lewis on the MDA Telethon in 2000.

Sister Anne Mary Lochner, OSU, ‘61 – attained a Bachelors degree with a double major in Speech/Hearing Pathology and Elementary Education from Bellarmine University, a Masters in Religious Education from Loyola University, and completed a post-graduate theology program in 1992 from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Ca. Lochner, who is devoted to improving the lives of others through education, initiated Louisville’s Project Women in 1998 with other women religious. As the former Executive Director of Project Women, she oversaw the organization’s mission to assist homeless single mothers to obtain a college education, helping to break the cycle of poverty. She also currently serves on the Board of the Coalition for the Homeless and the Ursuline Sisters' Leadership Team. Previously, Lochner served as a paralegal for a community law center for low income families, was the Vocation Director for the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, and taught elementary students at three Louisville schools.

Heart Award Winners:
Heart Awards are given to graduates or persons who have contributed in a significant way to the SHA or Louisville communities.

Marsha Dee – is the parent of two SHA grads and one current student. Over the last five years, she has worked tirelessly and quietly for Sacred Heart, serving in various capacities on the Parent Association Board and Interlude fundraising committee. She helped found and facilitate the Parent-to-Parent support program, annually serves as a phone-a-thon volunteer, and avidly supports the school’s student athletes, attending numerous sporting events even when her daughters have not been involved.

Joanie Hart Lacy, ’71 – is a parent who continually enhances the quality of life for SHA students and parents. In addition to being an eager volunteer for fundraising, social, and sporting events, she initiated a weekly Bible study and student prayer group, a Wednesday morning Parents’ Prayer Group, and a presentation and discussion on the issues of teen sex.

Maggie Olson – is the parent of an SHA alumna and a current student. In four years, Olson has held leadership roles on the Parent Association Board, serving as the Communication Coordinator, President-Elect, and current President. She has helped create a dynamic, proactive parent board that supports the entire SHA community. Over the last 13 years, Olson has embraced the opportunity to help make each of the three Ursuline Campus schools her daughters have attended a better place for current and future generations.

Michelle Resch, ’70 – is a Louisville attorney and consultant, who continually serves the SHA community as a dedicated volunteer. She has contributed time and treasure for numerous Ursuline Campus Schools committees, as well as the SHA Alumnae Board. She has been called the “ultimate ambassador” to SHA for her enthusiastic involvement and advocacy of the school and what it offers young women in the community.

Valkyrie Hall of Fame Inductees:
Only a maximum of three outstanding athletes/community contributors, who must be alums of 10 years or more, are chosen annually for the Hall of Fame awards.

She ranks as the 8th all-time rebounder in SHA basketball history, was named Jefferson County’s Field Hockey Coach of the Year in 2000, and was the head coach of the 2001 SHA state field hockey championship team. Her varsity coaching record was a phenomenal 63-6.

Debbie Miranda Mackey, ‘66 – was a member of the first state championship-winning swim team at SHA in 1963, and lettered in volleyball during her high school career.
