Alumna of the Year:
This award of highest honor is traditionally given to one alumna who has
contributed significantly to her community and enriched the lives of those
around her. As a graduate of Sacred Heart, her outstanding accomplishments
bring distinction to the school and the strong foundation it fosters in
young women.
Erin Brady Worsham, SHA 76 is a 1980 graduate of Western
Kentucky University, and a role model and champion to all who face physical
adversity. Although diagnosed in 1994 with Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis
(Lou Gherigs Disease), Worsham has continued to savor life as a
mother, an accomplished artist, patient activist, editorial writer, and
spokesperson. Even though confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the
neck down, and dependent upon a ventilator to breathe, Worsham has striven
to enjoy life and make meaningful contributions to the world around her.
Through a communication device attached to her eyebrow, Worsham has written
award-winning editorials for the Tennessean newspaper, created artwork
selected for permanent display in international galleries, and written
speeches delivered to the FDA, Tennessee Bar Association, and assemblies
of students. In 1999, Worsham was chosen as Person of the Year by the
Muscular Dystrophy Association and was featured with Jerry Lewis on the
MDA Telethon in 2000.
Sister Anne Mary Lochner, OSU, 61 attained a Bachelors
degree with a double major in Speech/Hearing Pathology and Elementary
Education from Bellarmine University, a Masters in Religious Education
from Loyola University, and completed a post-graduate theology program
in 1992 from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Ca. Lochner,
who is devoted to improving the lives of others through education, initiated
Louisvilles Project Women in 1998 with other women religious. As
the former Executive Director of Project Women, she oversaw the organizations
mission to assist homeless single mothers to obtain a college education,
helping to break the cycle of poverty. She also currently serves on the
Board of the Coalition for the Homeless and the Ursuline Sisters' Leadership
Team. Previously, Lochner served as a paralegal for a community law center
for low income families, was the Vocation Director for the Ursuline Sisters
of Louisville, and taught elementary students at three Louisville schools.

volunteer, and avidly supports the schools student athletes, attending
numerous sporting events even when her daughters have not been involved.

the quality of life for SHA students and parents. In addition to being

sex.

student. In four years, Olson has held leadership roles on the Parent
Association Board, serving as the Communication Coordinator, President-Elect,
and current President. She has helped create a dynamic, proactive parent
