Ministry in Education


 

 

When the Ursuline Sisters first came to Louisville, our ministry was to teach. Education remains a major focus for us in our ministries throughout the United States and in Peru.

Today we are involved in teaching Christian living through formal education at all levels

 
  

Ursuline Campus Schools
In 1877 when the first Louisville Ursulines purchased most of the land that is the present Ursuline Campus, they immediately opened a school that has become Sacred Heart Academy and Sacred Heart Model School. Over the years we have sponsored educational programs at this site to meet various needs:

 
Schools once run by the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville:
   Approximately 1,500 students are enrolled in the various schools and programs on the Ursuline campus. The academic excellence and value formation for which these schools and programs are noted attest to the experience and commitment of the Ursulines as educators.
