October 22, 2003 - Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors and friends, the Marian Home 25th Anniversary Campaign has been very successful. In all, the campaign raised $562,287 (as of Oct. 21, 2003), with $430,000 for the Marian Home endowment and $132,287 for use by Marian Home.

“Increasing the Marian Home endowment to $1 million was an ambitious goal,” said Jennifer Hartlage, director of Development. “However, reaching the goal in six short months is a testament to the impact the Ursuline Sisters have had, and continue to have, on the lives of others.”

“We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this goal,” said Sister Jean Anne Zappa. “With the growing cost of health care, we are continually challenged with meeting the financial needs of Marian Home. Raising these funds offers hope as we continue to work toward meeting future operational expenses.”

During the 25th anniversary campaign, several appeals were made to benefactors, families, vendors and alumnae. From the first appeal letter sent in October 2002, Marian Home was able to purchase a lift, a glider swing, new landscaping, three electric low beds, six bed alarms, two pulse oximeters, scheduling software, an electronic organ and miscellaneous equipment. Funds also allowed redecorating of 9 rooms and renovation of the second floor hallway.

“We’re extremely happy with the response from our appeals,” said Hartlage. “Our vendors, benefactors and friends have made it possible for us to enhance the lives of the residents at Marian Home.”

While the Office of Development will continue to raise funds for Marian Home, the next major campaign is to raise $500,000 for renovations to the Motherhouse. A recent $10,000 grant from Support Our Aging Religious puts donations as of Oct. 21 at $62,000.
