Ursuline Sister
to lead group aimed at collaboration
LOUISVILLE,
KY (June 23, 2003) - Ursuline Sister Margaret Ann Hagan has been named
coordinator by the Ursuline Society, an organization made up of the nine
independent Ursuline congregations in the United States. The coordinator,
with the assistance of a three-member steering committee, will develop
a vision for and structural details of a model for future Ursuline Society
collaboration. In addition, Sister Anne Mary Lochner was elected to the
interim leadership planning committee as part of this project.
As
coordinator, Sister Margaret Ann will become familiar with the history,
culture, tradition and unique spirit of each of the member congregations.
She will facilitate interaction among the sisters of the nine communities
and design activities that will move member communities to full implementation
of the collaboration model.
"Women
religious have the ability and responsibility to choose and create our
future," said Sister Margaret Ann. "The direction of the Ursuline
Society will hopefully encourage the participating congregations to choose
life as a model of collaboration that supports the congregations' interdependence."
In
addition to the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, other congregations in
the Ursuline Society are Ursuline Sisters of Maple Mount, Ky.; Belleville,
Ill.; Paola, Kan.; and Brown County, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Toledo and
Youngstown, Ohio.
